The Cottage Grove Coyotes defeated the Sea Donkey on Sunday afternoon to claim the Coyotes first ever TCMABL title.
After a scoreless first inning, the Yotes got the offense into gear in the second inning when Scott Seivert smaked a solo homerun to left center field to give the team an early 1-0 lead. The Yotes exploded for 6 runs in the top of the third inning to give the Coyotes a 7-0 lead. Garret Graves lead off the inning with a sinlge. Hans Heggerness, Mike Sellner, Matt Ruben, Conrad Ladoux and Dan Kamrath also followed with hits to plate the runs. The Sea Donkeys showed some resilience in the bottom half of the inning as they roughed up starting pitcher Roger Morrison. The Sea Donkeys put 5 runs up on the board to make it 7-5 ball game. The Coyotes added to their lead in the 4th when they scored 2 more runs to make it 9-5. The Sea Donkeys again fought back as they scored 4 runs off of reliever Hans Heggerness to ties the ball game at 9. From the 5th inning on it was all Coyotes as the Sea Donkeys couldn't keep up with the hitting of the Yotes. The Coyotes would add 5 runs in the 5th inning, 3 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th, and 2 more in the 9th to make it 20-9 Coyotes. The Sea Donkeys added 1 in the bottom of the 9th, but a base running ended the game as the Coyotes took home the Championship.
It was an all around team effort on Sunday, as every player contributed one way or another as the team racked up a record high 27 hits. The offensive box score for the starters in the batting line-up looked something like this:
1) Hans Heggernes: 3/6, 2B, 2 R
2) Michael Sellner: 3/4, 3 RBI, 2 SAC Flys
3) Matt Ruben: 4/6, 2 2Bs, 5 R, SB, BB
4) Randy Schmidt: 3/7, 3 RBI, 2B
5) Scott Seivert: 4/7, HR, 2B, 4 RBI
6) Conrad Ladoux: 2/4, 2 RBI, BB
7) Dan Kamrath: 2/5, 2B, RBI
8) Nick Tuckner: 3/5, 2B, RBI
9) Garret Graves: 3/6, 2B, 4 R
Many other players got into the mix as well. Dave Bucker added a big double off the bench offensively. He also made some platinum glove plays over at first base. Speaking of platinum, Dan Kamrath played a helluva game at thirdbase as he made not 1, but 2 diving grabs on the hot corner. He also got several scorchers off the bats of the Sea Donkeys. Scott Seivert, Garret Graves, and the T.J. Ramey also held down the fort in the outfield on what proved to be a tricky day with the wind blowing out.

Jason Keiffer Award (teammate of the year) Dan Kamrath - This is also a new award. We have this award in honor of our former teammate Jason Kieffer. Kief was always willing to do whatever he could for the team to help us win. And he always did it with a smile on his face. He was loved by all Coyotes and was a joy to have as a teammate and friend. Kammy was a great teammate this year. He stepped up when the team needed him and was a great teammate when his name was not in starting lineup. Kammy is always cheering on his teammates and trying to help the club win.
