2012 SEASON RECAP ~

Week 3 - INDIANS PLUCK 2-W'S FROM MUDHENS FOR 2ND CONSECUTIVE SWEEP!!!!

GAME 1-

In game 1, the INDIANS were able to take the lead early by scoring 2-runs in the first 2-innings.  In each inning the Mudhens spotted our leadoff batters a base either thru error or bases-on-balls and the INDIANS made the Mudhen mistakes count via timely hitting and a little small ball.  The INDIANS took a 4-1 lead into the tophalf of the 5th inning before things started getting hot around the collar.  The Mudhens put up 4-runs in their top half of the 5th to take an overall lead of 5-4.  But the INDIANS answered in their bottom half of the 5th inning by adding 4-runs thru 5-base hits, 2-walks and 1-HBP.  Manny Chavez was able to complete his 2nd INDIANS start/appearance with complete game.  Earning the W and striking out 11-batters.   Great come back effort for the Indians' 3rd WIN of the season!

* FINAL SCORE:  INDIANS (8) - Mudhens (5)

GAME 2-

The Mudhens came out for revenge in game 2 by putting up 4-runs in the 1st inning.  The INDIANS were able to put a run of our own in the bottom half of the 1st but the score after an inning was 4-1.  In what could be described as questionable strikezone, the INDIANS were held to a 4-1 score for most of the game until their 6th inning.  The INDIANS chipped away at the Mudhens in the 6th by putting up 3-runs via our heart of the order adding 3-basehits & 2-walks.  The INDIANS held a gutsy bases loaded Mudhen 6th from issuing any runs to bring a tie score into the 7th.  Then a little INDIANS 'small ball' helped score 2-runs in the top 7th.  Andy Dahlquist bunted Brett Witter and Chris Falteisek to 2nd & 3rd base.  Brett scored on an ensuing wild pitch.  The next batter (Casey Crisp) hit a deep sacrifice fly to score Chris for the knock out run.   A great finale to a weekend sweep!!!* FINAL SCORE: INDIANS (6) - Mudhens (4).

WEEK 2-  INDIANS SWEEP MARINERS!!!!

GAME 1 -

Great work taking 2-W'S from the MARINERS last weekend! We came out strong in game 1 by scoring early and often.  Irv pitched a 2 hitter and didn't give up any free passes either in route to our 10-0 victory.  We looked very solid in the 1st game and I think we surprised the MARINERS.
 * FINAL SCORE - INDIANS (10) - Mariners (0)

GAME 2 -
In game 2, we could have easily folded.  In fact, I think the INDIANS of old would have folded.  The MARINERS scored 3 runs in the top half of the 1st inning.  The INDIANS of old would have tucked our tails by giving up this early lead and settling for a split series.  Instead, we rallied for 4-runs in the bottom half of the 1st inning.  The MARINERS scored another run in the top half of the 2nd inning.  We had another opportunity to concede game 2 but instead we scored another 4-runs in the bottom half the 2nd inning to go up 8-4 after 2 innings.  The MARINERS chipped away at our lead bringing the score to 8-7 going into the final inning.  But Manny was able to secure his 1st INDIANS WIN and Tim closed the door for his 1st INDIANS SAVE to complete the our SERIES SWEEP of the MARINERS.  A great collective effort by all!
 * FINAL SCORE - INDIANS (8) - Mariners (7)

WEEK 1 - INDIANS DROP 2-GAMES TO SEA DONKEYS -

Game 1-

The season opener was not kind to the INDIANS. Mother nature provided a cold and rainy day to play baseball. Meanwhile the INDIANS came out of the dugout cold by handing the Sea Donkeys 4 RUNS in the 1st inning through a series of defensive miscues before finally settling down. We were able to string together a couple hits in the 7th inning to avoid a shutout. Tom Genrich and Ryan Bjorkstrand put together consecutive extra basehits to put 2 RUNS on the board avoiding a shutout.

* FINAL SCORE - Sea Donkeys (8) - INDIANS (2)

Game 2-

The afternoon game began with momentum as the INDIANS scored in the tophalf of the 1st. Casey Crisp sacrified himself to an HBP in the 1st inning. He took 2nd base on a passed ball and later scored on a Tim McCarthy SINGLE leading the INDIANS to an early lead. Unfortunately, our momentum was shortly lived. The Sea Donkeys were able to score 4 RUNS in the bottom half of the 1st inning. The score remained the same until the 4th inning when the wheels came off. INDIANS pitching collectively gave up 13-RUNS in the 4th inning. Our pitching managed to issue 9 WALKS, 3 SINGLES & 2 HBP's on our way to a mercy inning.

* FINAL SCORE - Sea Donkeys (17) - INDIANS (1)
