Sure the race for the regular season Division winner is nice, but all eyes are on the bubble watch for the final playoff spots in the 18+. With seven teams sitting on the bubble and need a win and or a sweep to reach postseason play.
The expansion Twins have gone 4-6 since July including wins over the Cardinals and Tigers and have climbed back into the playoff race – they need to sweep the True Blue on Sunday to reach the field. They split with the Reds this past Sunday with Grant Stern going all seven for the shutout with ten strikeouts. Kyle Goodwin with three hits and a double, Ben Ryan tripled in the 6-0 win. Adam Reents was dominate for the Reds in the 2-1 win, going all seven and only allowing three hits and no earned with eleven strikeouts.
This past Sunday the Tigers swept the Expos led by Joe Lampe’s two homeruns and six runs knocked in, he also picked up the win in the 15-4 five-inning flirt. The Tigers won the rematch 7-6. The Expos have lost four in a row and need a sweep of the Ducks to enter the playoffs clean, a split with the Ducks would come down to math and other games for either the Expos or Ducks to make the playoffs.
The Ducks got swept by the North Stars with Sam Nelson going all fourteen innings, two wins, two complete games and two shutouts. Chandler Arredondo homered in one of the games and Nico Balcos doubled twice. The Stars are sitting good for a playoff spot and even have a chance at a bye. The Ducks need a sweep or a win/split with some math to make the post season.
Indians swept the Snappers to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Giants swept the True Blue led by Noah Danners no-hitter. The Giants need just one win to cement themselves with a playoff birth, but a sweep would help their cause. True Blue needs to win one game and hope for a Snappers loss to make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
Rams swept the Cardinals and the Sea Donkeys took care of business verses the Coyotes. All four teams are battling for a regular season banner this Sunday.
The Black Sox remain the only undefeated team in the league with it’s tenth win in a row, beating the Knights 11-1. Justin Wallace wnet 4-4 with two runs scored and one knocked in. Dave Neudecker chipped in with two doubles.
The Mets are not far back from the Sox in the American with a 9-0 win over the Hounds. Jamar Cadejuste went eight innings and struck out nine for the win and also homered to go with his three hit day. Joseph Gonzalez also had three hits for the Mets, Arthur Nunez’s group have won five in a row.
Jon Hallstrom homers for the Piranhas but it wasn’t enough as the Brewers win 8-3. Ryan Lutzka with three hits and a run scored, Chris Jahnke with two doubles and Matt Grill got the win with a complete game and striking out nine.
Bryan Jamieson homers at the plate and goes eight on the mound in the 6-2 Grasshopper win over the Lake Monsters. Jamieson only gave up one earned and struck out five. Dan Hill had four hits and a double for the bugs.
Muskies cruise to a 13-1 win over the Bulldogs, David Klocker with three hits, two doubles and four fish knocked in, Mark McClain also with three hits. Jerry Elian with the win going six innings. Mus,kies have won four in a row.
Mariners need a late rally to beat the Generals 10-8. Ryan Hess with three hits and Jason Krech with three runs driven in. Seth Bogar got the win. Joe “Valentine” with four hits and four RBIs in the loss for the Generals.
Northeast Nine beat the Isotopes 14-0 and Delano Bats won 13-3 over the Blue Jays.
The Cubs have won five in a row and sit in first place in the Hobbs with a 5-0 win over the Padres. John Barbella went the distance for the complete game shutout. Steve Bubb had three hits and Nate Ackman scored twice and doubled for the bears.
The Skeeters have also won five in a row and are on a roll following a 12-4 win over the Voyageurs. Mike Schaefer doubles twice and drives in two. Paul Dietz, Jeff Frerichs, Dan and Tom Genrich, all with two hits each in the win.
Dodgers win big over the Wobblies 10-2. Bret Repaski with three hits and two runs scored. Wes Robertson went seven innings and fanned five and drove in two runs at the plate for Dodgertown.
The Grays rebounded after an extra innings loss to the Skeeters the week before and took out some angst on the Mavericks in the 20-5 win in seven innings. Ben Anderson and Erik Esala with four RBIs each, Steve Cupryna doubled and drove in three. Joe Nadolney, Anderson and Cupryna all with multiple hits on the day. Mike Shanor picked up the win.
