Week Five: Highlights

The Coyotes are the hottest team in the league right now winning six in a row, including a Sunday sweep over the Reds. Hans Heggernes went 3-3 with a double and four RBIs and Jason Eddy homered and knocked in four. TJ Wagner picked up the morning win pitching three hit ball and no earned runs in the 11-1 victory. The rematch featured a homer from Mike Lippert and Adam Weber picked up the 12-1 win.

 

The Cardinals split with the Giants but remain in first in the American. Cards won the morning 17-7, but the Giants rebounded and took the second game 9-1. Noah Danner struck out eight in seven innings, Matt Carter with two hits as well as Mike Cisewski who also hit two doubles in the win.

 

The Donks remain on top of the competitive National with a sweep over the Twins. The Sea Donkeys won 9-1 led by Peter Ridley’s two hit – three RBI morning. Jack Feyereisn also added two hits for the Donks. Ryan Lutzka got the complete game win. The rematch was a 5-4 win for the Donkeys. Peter Ridley with another two hit game, Isiah Nowlan, Emery Hull also with two hits. Ben Kleist worked the complete game win.

 

The Rams have won three in a row with a sweep over the True Blue. Nick Vikstrom with three hits and four runs scored, Joe Collier and Jeff Moe also with three hits. Moe also drove in four Rams. Trevor Buttermore picked up the win. In the second game Buttermore came through again, this time at the plate going 3-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Collier and Vikstrom had two runs batted in each. Rams won 9-7. Ray Elias-Cartwright went 3-3 with two runs for the True Blue in the loss.

Richie Gulner had a day throwing 11.1 innings total – pitching a contested no-hitter in the morning for 4-1 Ducks win – allowing no earned runs while striking out ten and only walking one in two games on Sunday. Jake Vandome homers for the Ducks in the 5-4 Legends win. Austin Fuller doubles and drove in two and Scott O’Brien went 2-3 with an RBI. Erik Lundgren got the win and John Toraason picked up the save for the Nordeasters.
 

Sam Nelson’s five hit day propels the North Stars over the Bombers 15-3. Nelson also had two doubles and two RBIs, and picked up the win on the bump striking out five in six innings. Nash Dalzell with three hits and a double and two runs knocked in. Bombers bounce back for the split winning 10-1. Chris Lyons with two hits, two doubles and three driven in, he also pitched a gem going seven innings and only allowing one earned run while fanning six. Jack Yeakel also doubled and drove in two for the Bombers.

The Indians sweep the Tigers Sunday and climb back into the jumble of the National Division playoff race. Bailey Smith picks up the win going six and striking out five and walking one. Casey Crisp with two hits and a double. Joe Rynda, Mike Schaefer also doubled for the tribe in the 4-2 win. John Ogden with two doubles and two runs batted in for the Indians in the 4-3 win, Ogden also picked up the win. Rynda got the save to close out the game.

The Expos climb back into the playoff puzzle with a sweep of the Snappers. Jon Soto with two hits, two runs and an RBI and Devon Bottger was tough only allowing two hits and one earned in seven complete while striking out seven turtles. Kody Gregerson went 3-4 with a double and two drove in as the Expos win the nightcap 8-2. Gregerson also picked up the win going six and giving up no earned runs.
 



The pillars of heaven shook and the baseball gods finally handed the Brewers their first loss in four years. Delano Bats defeated Bauhaus 4-3 led by the un-retired Kyle Field. Delano didn’t post their stats so I have no clue how they pulled off the feat, but the Brewers hammered out thirteen hits but couldn’t come around and score. The inspired Brewers will look to rebound against the Knights this Sunday - Ouch, feel bad for the Knights – and hold off the tough competitive National Division.

Another National team to fall was the Northeast Nine as the Muskies won 14-4. Bill Hausmann with two hits and two doubles for Northeast. The Muskies didn’t post their boxscore.

The Hounds who proudly posted their boxscore won 20-0 over the Knights led by PJ Zwach’s diamond performance on the bump, going seven innings and striking out fifteen batters, walking none and only allowing two hits for the shutout. Trevor Todd went 4-4 with four runs batted in, Joe Glynn, Justin Ancel and Steve Siquerious with three hits each. Glynn crossed the plate five times for the dogs.

Bulldogs won 14-3 over the Isotopes. Jeremy Laird went the distance striking out nine. Josh Fuchs went 3-4 with a double and four RBIs, John Kipkowski also with three hits and two knocked in. Chris Kalina with two hits and an RBI. Luke Lindstrom had three hits for the Topes in the loss.

Dan Schwartz homers and the Lake Monsters win 7-2 over the Generals. Anthony Gross with three hits and double, Erick Hendrickx struck out nine, walked one and pitched a three hitter through eight innings.

 

Bryan Jamieson was dominate over the Mariners as he struck out ten and only slowed one earned in a complete game 7-2 win for the Grasshoppers. Michael Contreras and Jason Burns each with a double and two RBIs. Jamieson scored three runs to help his cause.

 

Black Sox win 7-5 over the Mets.

The Grays win 6-1 over the Cubs led by Jon Schlotz’s complete game gem. Schlotz struck out ten and pitched a two-hitter going into the last inning. Jon Widerski went 3-3 with a double and two runs batted in. Michael Shanor also doubled and drove in two. Patrick Hanlon scored twice to go with his two hits.

 

Dodgers won 7-5 over the Skeeters, Martin Cheatham, Eric Johnson and David McIntosh with two hits each. Johnson doubled and drove in two. Frank Markie picked up the win with Cheatham assisting with the save.

Voyageurs won 10-4 over the Wobblies for the annual Van Cleve matchup. Ben Thompson with three hits, double and two RBIs. Scott Christensen also with three hits and two knocked in. Ryan Saralampi picked up the win going five innings and striking out four and walking none, he also added three hits himself. Voyageurs have won three in a row.

Mavericks won 9-0 officially over the Padres, but that doesn’t erase Dwight Howell’s big day at the plate, going 4-5 with a double and a grand slam driving in seven total Padres. Henry Medrano also homered for the faithful and had three hits and three knocked in. Jason Kresser had three hits as well. John Ripplinger struck out ten in six innings, only allowing one earned.
